RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CANDIDATE : The main objective of this Master’s research project is to develop a hybrid GPS/Galileo IF signal generator. The first part of the work deals with the simulation and analysis of the GPS L1, L5 and the Galileo L1, E5a, E5b signals. The developed algorithms will be implemented in Matlab/Simulink for performance evaluation. The next step is the coding of the GPS/Galileo signals in VHDL and their implementation in a FPGA. Analysis and validation will be performed and the resulting performances obtained in real time being compared to those obtained in simulation. The main goal of the project is to design and implement in simulation and in real time a hybrid IF GPS/Galileo signal simulator. This 12 month Master’s Degree research project will start with a meticulous analysis of the various GPS/Galileo signals and will be followed by a bibliographical study of the signals so as to choose the best implementation. The Master’s student will be supervised and will work with the postdoctoral researcher and will have regular meetings with the professor in charge of the project. He will collaborate with the other Master’s student who will study more in details the real-time aspects and validation of the algorithms.
