140 – Dual L-Band Iridium/Inmarsat Interferences under Helicopter’s Rotor Blade Effect

The main task of the candidate is the identification and modelling of specific L-Band iridium/Inmarsat interferences when both systems are used simultaneously and installed onboard the same helicopter under Rotor Blade Effect Modulation. These two SatCom systems are generally used for data streaming, tracking and bi-directional communication between the crew and the center of operation. To achieve higher reliability, two different SatCom solutions iridium and Inmarsat are integrated for global coverage and complementarity. The candidate will analyses the interferences between iridium downlink and Inmarsat Uplink frequencies 1626.5 MHz especially when used on the same helicopter. In parallel, the effect of the rotor blade modulation on each L-Band satellite signal must be analyzed and estimated before possible integration in order to determine the optimal placement of Iridium and Inmarsat antennas for simultaneous usage on the ground and during flight operations.
